30Dos : Day 30!

IT. IS. DAY. 30!!!!!!

I thought about many things for a finale...a hair cut. a dye. bleached tips. After all though, this has been an experiment for doing what you can with what you have. Therefore, I leave you with my final, standard-hair, hair do:

My friends, I have a lot to tell you about this whole experiment. For now though, I will stick to standard post format, and you will have to wait to hear me pontificate! :)

I literally teased my whole head, right down to neck. I made a messy bun out of the middle third chunk of my hair horizontally (yes really). Then I pined back the top in sections, but held back a few small chunks for braids.  The bottom section I wound upward and pinned underneath the pony tail. The great thing about this do...it can be messy and still work!

Time investment : 12min.
Product investment : Hair band, bobbies, teasing brush
Money investment : $0.15

Words of ... mine :)
Hmmm. After all of this, I would say : Try to ENJOY taking care of yourself. Your body, mind, and spirit are all bound up and can sometimes affect each other.

30Dos : Day 27

So the thing with experimenting is that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Today the thing I was attempting did not work, but during the experiment, I discovered this look. Day 27 is a lot softer and more flowing than my usual preference, but I ended up liking it.

AND IT'S EASY. So I suppose it is my style after all.

To make this do : pull your hair to your favorite side of your head (everyone has one right?) and separate into two chunks. Tie a double knot with those two chunks. Pin any hair sticking out of the knots back into the flow of your hair.

Time investment : 15min (because of straightening)
Product investment : Bobbies, straightener
Money investment : $.15

30dos : Day 22

Jenna's wedding day! I'll post some wedding photos so you can see the whole picture after they are available. Until, you get the prep photos!

To make this do, I started with a messy low bun with the bottom 1/3 of my hair. Then with the remaining hair, I twisted it chunk by chunk, crossed it in the back and pinned it down. I straightened my bangs and pinned them back.

Time investment : 20min
Product investment : LOTS of hair spray, LOTS of bobbies, rubber band, teasing brush
Money investment $.15

For a special treat, I'll show you my new trick for maintaining volume (thank you Cath!). This is two butterfly clips after drying and sometimes at night. This was an especially amazing pouf during wedding prep:

Words of wisdom : Happy 4th of July!
Can the liberties of a nation be sure when we remove their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people, that these liberties are a gift from God? ~ Thomas Jefferson

Posterity, you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that ever I took half the pains to preserve it. ~ John Adams

30Dos : Day 13

Here we are, on Day 13. We are in the throws of summer, and my hair is starting to show signs of chlorine damage. The texture is coarser, the color is brassier. But I will press on...because I am not stopping my pool routine.

Today's do is simple; a nape bun of sorts.

It began with a pull through pony tail, and then I simply wound the pony strands back up toward my head and pinned them there.

Time investment : 6 min.
Product investment : Hair band, bobbies, comb for teasing
Money investment : $.05

Don't worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition. ~ Abraham Lincoln

30Dos : Day 9

Soooo...husband has recently caught up on the blogging, and he kindly informed me that I shouldn't refer to these posts as "30Ds" anymore....as that sounds like a bra size above all else. Hahaha, I'm still laughing about it.

Sorry everyone! Thank goodness for honest husbands I suppose. I will now reference these posts as 30Dos.

I went with a high bun thing for day 9, but it's more interesting then it looks right off. I literally spent 3 minutes only with this one. First step is a high pony, bring the pony back up through the hair within the pony from below, and pin the rest of the pony into whatever shape you want!

Time investment : 3min
Product investment : Rubber band, bobbies
Money investment : $.10

Words of wisdom for today about integrity :
The measure of a man’s real character is what he would do if he would never be found out. -Thomas Macauley

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. - James 1:26-27
