30Ds : Day 5

I'm running out of quick and easy dos. I knew I would fall into my old habits of easy or nothing....and it's only day 5!

I have been gathering some inspiration photos, so my attempts at mimicking some more elaborate dos will be around the corner. For today though...I must once again address my forehead.
Because my face is rather long, adding volume to the top of my head (in pouf style) only elongates my face further...I am pterodactyl-girl.

Today I tried an all-over pouf ponytail. Some teasing, some combing, some rubber banding, a few bobbies in the bottom back....
Pouf! (magically and literally)

What do you think? (I have a trick of raising my eyebrows to make my forehead look shorter...I don't even realize that I'm doing it anymore. I'll try not to do it in future photos so that we can all get an honest look....at pterodactyl-girl.)

Time investment : 4 minutes
Product/Money investment : Hair bands, skinny comb, bobbies. Approx. $0.10

3ODs : Day 4

Another road trip today...home from Wisconsin. About 10 minutes after arriving back to Cincinnati, we had our first softball game of the season. All this utilitarian and athletic stuff forced me once again into an incredibly durable do.

It's nothing but a tight low ponytail with bangs secured by bobbies.

Time investment : 1 min.

Money/Product investment : $.02ish
Our softball team is called The Family because of our traditional Sunday night potluck dinners amongst friends. These are the shirts I fixed up based on the Godfather logo...and yes, the grammar IS correct.
Let me just say that a warm summer night playing softball with friends is awesome!

Words of wisdom for the day :
"As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart." Proverbs 27:19 NIV

30Ds : Day 3

Wedding day in Wisconsin! Today my cousin got married in New Glaurs, WI. Beautiful day.

In terms of my 30Ds, I luckily had sisters around to inspire.

For today's do, Sister A used a teasing brush to get volume in the back, then took medium chunks from the front and secured them on top of the tease with bobby pins.

Time investment = 5 minutes (15 if you include the hair drying and straightening)
Money/Product investment = Teasing brush and bobbies - approx. $10

Ghost face in the last one.

As normal as this hairstyle might be, things can get a little ca-razay around my family. (For example, I was carried by my limbs, like a cradle, facing downward, from the car to the front door by the other 5 of my family. Just for...fun?) We also played a little Quelf. Unfortunately the only full video that depicts the event was of me, so I'll bite the bullet here.

This is another outcome from the game: this is my Ma...being a mummy until someone rolls a 4.
Words of wisdom for the day :
Laughter should dimple the cheek, not furrow the brow. A jest should be such that all shall be able to join in the laugh which it occasions; but if it bears hard upon one of the company, like the crack of a string, it makes a stop in the music. - Owen Feltham

30Ds : Day 2

This was the first day in ages that I made time in the morning to work with my hair. As I prepared to tackle my first do, I realized that after a day of manual labor at my factory, I would be hopping on the road for an 8 hour drive north.

I needed something easy, durable, frizz-managing.

Ponytail! Headband! (I spent almost all my allotted hair time looking for the headband.) I did do a little teasing near the back to lift the volume.

Bah! I told you about my forehead coming in to play.

Clearly I'm starting with the basics. Gimme 2 weeks and things will start to get CRAZY.

Time Investment : 2min (If you don't count the headband hunt)
Product/Money Investment : $0

Character building quote :
In the Bible, when Samuel was tasked with selecting the new king of Israel, 1 Samuel 16:7:
"But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature...For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart."

30 Days, 30 Dos : Day 1

Day 1 :
This is my classic, daily do. I wash my hair right before bed, air dry it over night, and leave in the morning.

Time investment = 0
Product/Money investment = 0
Can you really blame me for doing this almost every day?

Goodbye monotony! What will tomorrow bring?!
